Proud to be part of the IBM i Community and creating jobs for Atlanta

DRV Tech celebrates 4th of JulyHappy 4th of July!  It was 237 years ago this week that our country formally declared its independence.  I would like to thank the men and women in our U.S. Armed Forces and their families who sacrifice and serve in order to keep our country safe and independent.

When you live in America you are part of many circles of community. As a business owner for 25 years in Atlanta, I believe strongly in giving back by keeping jobs in our backyard. It makes good business sense too. Having our staff and customer service down the hall means we can answer any questions from our clients quickly and with team ownership, since at some level everyone in the company participates in customer service and support. I also enjoy sitting face-to-face with our software designers and being an active part of creating new solutions to maximize IBM output.

One of the pleasures of living in Atlanta is the Peachtree Road Race on 4th of July. It’s a great gathering of runners and walkers established back in 1970 that attracts a huge crowd of participants and volunteers. My wife Dondi and I are running in it for the first time this year.  We’ve run in other 10k races and this year we are taking on the Peachtree Road Race with an estimated 60 thousand other enthusiastic runners and walkers.  What a great way to celebrate the community spirit in Atlanta.

There is another community I am proud to be a part of and that is the IBM community of IBM i, iSeries, and AS/400 users. I recently wrote about the 25th anniversary of the AS/400 and how it was exciting to be part of the team that worked on the launch. It’s still exciting all these years later to be working on maximizing the capabilities of these servers to deliver data in the most effective way that improves workflow and drives sales. IT employees are among the most dedicated and loyal employees at a company and I am glad to be a part of their community.

Happy 4th of July from all of us at DRV Tech.
