Does SpoolFlex work with electronic forms software?
Yes. SpoolFlex works with SCS spooled files regardless of whether you are using electronic forms software or check printing software. SpoolFlex also works with ASCII spool files when the PCL2PDF Add-on has been licensed.
Does SpoolFlex require custom programming or changes to spooled files?
No. SpoolFlex handles all processing through user-friendly menu options. No custom programming, spooled file modifications, or third-party software is required.
How will SpoolFlex affect my IBM i system resources?
SpoolFlex was built using true ILE methodology from the ground up — not converted from RPG III or RPG IV. It uses the latest IBM i APIs and technology, so you will not see high resource allocation when running it.
Can SpoolFlex improve the performance of my existing jobs?
Likely yes. If your current software handles tasks like sorting or distributing that SpoolFlex can take over, you can offload that processing to SpoolFlex and expect to see overall job performance improve.
Does SpoolFlex work with fax and email products?
Yes. SpoolFlex is compatible with almost all fax and email products.
Can I use more than one Spool Data Field to dynamically name output files?
Yes. In the Spool Data Field, you can enter multiple fields separated by a vertical bar. For example: COMPANY NUMBER | DIVISION
Can I send multiple attachments in a single email?
Yes. Using SpoolFlex V4 email, you can select multiple spooled files using option E=eMail and choose to send them as a single email with multiple attachments. The same is possible via the V4 email API (SFAEML, SFBEML, or SFACPYEML).
Can I email multiple recipients through one process?
Yes. SpoolFlex works with SCS spooled files regardless of whether you are using electronic forms software or check printing software.
Can SpoolFlex keep the original User ID when copying a spooled file to an exception outqueue?
Yes. In the Exception Handling screen within the report distribution setup, you can specify *SAME, *NEW, or a specific NAME value in the “Exception SPLF User ID” field.
Can SpoolFlex perform scheduled deletion of old spooled files from outqueues?
Yes. The Advanced Utilities module includes a Spool Sentry that can be configured with sophisticated file selection rules to automatically delete spooled files past a specified age on a recurring schedule.
Can I see more than 25 entries in the Email Failed Log or Sent Log?
The Failed Log is designed for troubleshooting, not tracking. If you have the Audit Trail module, the log expands to store up to 1,000 entries and adds the ability to search, review, and resend distributed documents. Contact your account manager for more information.
What might cause an incorrect timestamp on files placed on the IFS by SpoolFlex?
Your system time may be correct, but the time zone setting may be wrong. Use WRKSYSVAL and verify the QTIMZON field.

FormFlex
FormFlex — Electronic Forms & Check Software
Can I use fields from my database file to apply conditions in a FormFlex form?
Yes. Use the DB FIELD object to bring data in from a database file. You can then reference that database field in the condition section of other objects within the form.
Is there an easy way to shift all objects in a form at once?
Yes. While editing form detail, use the group change function. Enter positive numbers (e.g., 1.0, 1.5) to shift items down or to the right. Enter negative numbers after the value (e.g., 1.0-, 1.5-) to shift up or to the left.
What image format should I use when sending a logo for FormFlex?
Send your image in JPG, TIF, or GIF format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
How do I add a logo image to a FormFlex form?
There are three steps: first, convert the image to PCL format. Second, import it into FormFlex using option 4 = Import Image on the FormFlex main menu (you’ll need to map a drive to the DRV directory on IFS). Third, place the imported image within your form design.
Can I make alternating detail lines shaded in a FormFlex form?
Yes. Create a shaded box and apply conditions so it only appears on selected detail lines. This involves mapping spool data to control which lines receive the shaded background.
