DRV Technologies Adds USPS Intelligent
Mail Barcode Support

ATLANTA – April 2, 2009 – DRV Technologies, Inc., the developer of FormFlex electronic form and MICR laser check software for the IBM Power Systems (IBM i, System i, iSeries, AS/400), announces the addition of the USPS Intelligent Mail barcode (aka: OneCode, 4-State Customer Barcode, 4CB and USPS4CB) to the list of supported barcodes in the FormFlex software. Although the Postal Service has pushed back the deadline for requiring the use of this barcode to May 2011, this new barcode can be used today and offers many benefits over the current POSTNET barcode in use today.

FormFlex is an IBM Power System host based application that allows organizations to reduce costs by replacing expensive pre-printed forms and checks with electronic forms and checks that can print the form and data in a single pass with logos and barcodes to inexpensive network laser printers.

Many organizations are currently reducing their postage costs by taking advantage of the USPS automation discounts including the use of the POSTNET and PLANET barcodes, said Richard Voss,
President of DRV Technologies. The most common method used for obtaining automation discounts is the printing of the POSTNET barcode on all mail pieces. The method DRV has developed to generate the Intelligent Mail barcode bypasses the use of any fonts, thereby eliminating any issues when converting electronic forms to PDF files or printing to different printers throughout an organization.

According to Voss, this new barcode not only maximizes postal savings, but provides a tracking symbol for each piece of mail from the moment a mailing enters into, and all the way through the postal network, with features like comprehensive mail piece tracking, low-cost proof of mailing, payment tracking, delivery forecasting, free address change service, and much more. This new barcode is included in our FormFlex base product which allows printing mail pieces such as invoices, statements (with barcodes) directly from existing output from their IBM Power Systems. Many companies are realizing they can greatly reduce costs by printing documents directly to their desktop laser printers and now it can include the Intelligent Mail
barcode as well.
