Update Instructions Follow instructions to upgrade your SpoolFlex/FormFlex software.
Many organizations are still printing checks on pre-printed check stock on old impact printers. For many it is time to consider a new approach that is more secure and easier to manage: MICR Laser Check Printing.
A lot of myths surround laser check printing, including the #1 myth that an expensive, proprietary MICR-enhanced printer with special font cards is required. The truth: all you need is printing software (such as FormFlex), blank secure check stock and an inexpensive network laser printer that you can obtain MICR toner for. Many FormFlex customers are printing negotiable items with off-the-shelf HP printers with great success. DRV’s approach has been to add security and division of duty into the FormFlex Secure Checks software, an inexpensive alternative to hardware focused solutions.
With FormFlex Secure Checks, security has been enhanced with these features:
- A password can be required to access the check printing software and each checkbook in the software locked and available only to authorized profiles.
- Encrypted signatures that can be password protected with multiple passwords, requiring one or more people to authorize before checks can be printed with signatures, all natively on the System I, the most secure platform in the world!
- Included with Secure Checks is the secure font which prints the check amount in a font that cannot be altered by hand to prevent fraud.
- By utilizing blank check stock, you do not have to inventory check stock by bank account. The MICR line prints at the same time the data, check and signature in a single pass. Less hassle, more secure, lower cost.

| Answers to Your Questions |
Q: I am modifying a FormFlex electronic form definition and I want to replace the logo file with a different logo. What is the file type I should request from our graphics department for use with FormFlex? How do I make sure it is sized the same as the existing logo so it works on the overlay?
A: An image in a JPG, PNG, BMG, GIF, or TIFF format works fine. A high resolution file is preferred. If possible send an image with 300dpi resolution. The larger the dimensions the better as that for better clarity when the file is resized. From there, we just need to know the desired printing dimensions. We can resize and convert it from there.
Q: Can MessageFlex monitor for more than one message type?
A: Yes, it can monitor for completion, inquiry, escape, and several other types.
Q: Is there a function in FormFlex that allows me to print a full invoice on one copy for my office's records, and then everything but the unit cost on the second copy for my customer's records?
A: Yes. FormFlex allows you to apply condition on a block of data, or objects in a form to only print on certain copies.
Q: When my spoolfile is generated it puts the detail on two separate lines, so I cannot sort it correctly when I convert to excel. Is there some way I can move lines up or down so the detail appears in a single line?
A: Yes. With ReportFlex re-formatter, you can easily move one line up onto the end of the previous line with one MOVLINE sequence. This is an add-on to SpoolFlex and can be activated with a code.

n FormFlex:
To keep the User ID of the original SCS file after merging it with the form that creates an ASC file, use this parameters: NEWSPLUSI(*SPLUSI). For example, FFAEDOC EDOCNM('AK TEST') NEWSPLUSI(*SPLUSI). This command creates ASC files that have User ID from the original SCS spooled file
