Update Instructions Follow these instructions to upgrade your SpoolFlex/FormFlex software.
Bring all of your report and forms management under one umbrella with DRV FlexTools
A lot of DRV customers are using only half of the DRV Solution model and could leverage their current configuration to get a lot more out of their software and consolidate the number of vendors they work with if they took advantage of all of our programs.
Does your organization use AFP overlays or other 3rd party forms software?
Do you use older report management tools or still print or manually convert and email reports?
Consolidating your solutions under the DRV FlexTools Umbrella gives you a lot of advantages:
- One business partner to call on for assistance with report, forms, laser checks or system monitoring.
- Proven technical expertise and excellent customer service.
- Low 15% annual maintenance that never increases as long as you keep the agreement active.
- No hidden fees for upgrades or license transfers.
- Future readiness: Many clients have obsolete forms solutions that are not supported in the latest OS releases unless they switch to expensive server driven software. As IBM Development partners, DRV FlexTools are compiled for current and future OS releases without upgrade fees or pressure to move to different platforms.
- Interoperability. The same e-mail system you use for reports can be used to electronically deliver forms to your customers, or vice versa. It's much easier to maintain.
DRV's low cost pricing model has enabled many customer to switch all of their forms and report management solutions under the DRV FlexTools Umbrella for less than the annual maintenance they were paying on their old obsolete solutions.
Give us a call to discuss how we can bring all of your report, forms and system management tools under one umbrella!

| Answers to Your Questions |
Q: We are planning to upgrade our OS to V6.1. Would Spoolflex software continue working or do we need to upgrade it?
A: As long as your Spoolflex software is version 4 or higher, you are all compatible up through OS V7.1. You won't need to do anything special when you upgrade the OS. The IBM side should handle everything (like conversion) automatically.
Q: We are moving to a new AS400 box next month. Do I need to get a new license code for Spoolflex software and do I have to pay for it?
A: No. As long as you have an active maintenance agreement with DRV, there is no transfer or upgrade fee. Simply contact tech support a few days before the switch over and request a license transfer and they will provide you with the paperwork to transfer the license to the new box.
Q: Is there a tool in DRV Flextools that can index and store converted files to a network drive so we can easily search and view them later?
A: Yes. These files can be pushed through FlexTools out to a server on your network for storage using a report distribution. Our new enhanced Audit Trail indexing feature allows you to index several fields or sections from a spool file when they're distributed. They are searchable, viewable, and can be re-sent directly from the Audit Trail menu on the 400. If you already own the Audit Trail, this enhancement is included when you upgrade your software. If you don't own the Audit Trail, but would like to test it, give us a call at 866-378-3366.
Q: I'm having trouble viewing XLS files on my smart phone. Do you suggest any tips to make them viewable?
A: You can convert your files using an XLS definition, but instead of using a XLS extension, you can use HTML. Your phone will open the spreadsheet in a browser. It looks almost the same as if you were to open it in Excel.
Q: I want to create a two-copy invoice using FormFlex off of a 1 page spooled file. One would be for a customer copy, and one for an office copy. How does FormFlex handle this?
A: Yes. The trick is to specify Copies = 2 in the form header, then inside your form you condition the portions you want to show on the customer copy saying "*COPY *EQ 1", or "*COPY *EQ 2" for the other page. You can apply condition to various objects such as text, images, spool data objects, boxes, and more. This is a good way to hide financial information, or costs that you don't want your customers to see. You could also use this to print a "CUSTOMER COPY" watermark as well.
Q: I am using FormFlex Secure Checks to print accounts payable checks with an electronic signature. Currently, the signature prints on all checks regardless of the amount. Is it possible to print one signature only on checks that have amount less than $5,000.00 and another signature for checks that are higher? Can we print both?
A: Yes. Secure Checks allows you to print electronic signatures conditionally based on the amount of the check. First, you need to map the amount field in the spool data map, then use that field to apply a condition on signature. If you want to print two signatures you can condition that too. If you'd like to learn more, our tech support staff can show you how this is done.
