Update Instructions Follow these instructions to upgrade your SpoolFlex/FormFlex software.
USPS® Intelligent Mail Barcode
DRV's form software FormFlex supports the USPS® Intelligent Mail barcode, which is the next generation of
USPS® barcode technology used to sort and track letters and flats. Intelligent Mail barcode technology,
among other things, combines the capabilities of the POSTNET™ barcode and the PLANET Code® barcode into
one unique barcode.
The Postal Service is promoting use of the Intelligent Mail barcode because it expands the ability to track
individual mailpieces and provides customers with greater visibility into the mailstream.
The Intelligent Mail barcode is a type of height-modulated barcode, that uses four distinct vertical bar
types (Full, Tracker, Ascender and Descender).
FormFlex enables you to print the USPS® Intelligent Mail barcode using inexpensive HP compatible laser
printers. No programming is needed. Contact your account manager today for a closer look.
DRV FlexTool License Transfers
If you are upgrading your system or moving to a new box and need to transfer your software license,
please e-mail or call DRV Customer
Support at 866-378-336 to a license transfer agreement.
As long as you have an active maintenance agreement, there is no charge to transfer your license
but you must complete and fax back a signed license transfer agreement which states that you are
transferring your software license to another box and will remove the software from the original
box within 30 days. If you need to run the software in parallel testing on both boxes for longer
period, DRV offers software rental licensing.

| Answers to Your Questions |
|
Q: Can SpoolFlex perform spooled file maintenance by deleting old spool files from outques
on a scheduled basis?
A: Yes. The advanced utilities allow you to schedule an automated Spool Sentry that
can use sophisticated spool file selection to create a number of rules for deleting files. Once set up,
the Sentry can automatically delete files past a certain age.
Q:
When SpoolFlex places reports in my IFS the time stamp is
incorrect. Do you have any ideas what may be causing this?
A:
Your time may be set correctly on the IBM-i, but you may be
using the wrong time zone. Use WRKSYSVAL and then
verify the QTIMZON field.
Q:
Can I use fields from my database file to apply conditions
in my form with FormFlex?
A:
Yes. You should use the DB FIELD object to “bring
data in” from the database file. You can then use that
database field in the condition section in other objects.
Q:
For purposes of employees finding any exceptions they need
to handle, we would like to keep the spool file’s original
User ID when that file is copied into an exception outque.
Is that possible?
A:
Absolutely! You can now specify
*SAME, *NEW, or Name values in the new
field Exception SPLF User ID in the Exception Handling
screen in the report distribution.
Q:
In SpoolFlex, the Email Failed Log and Sent Logs save only
25 entries. I really need the capability to save more
entries. How can I do this?
A:
The fail log is not meant to be used for tracking e-mails,
but for troubleshooting. Now, if you own a license for the
Audit Trail module, it expands the fail log to save up to
1,000 entries, as well as providing a tool for a “sent log.”
It also allows you to search and review distributed
documents for visual verification and/or resending. Please
contact your
account manager for more information and a closer look
at the Audit Trail.
